Since finding this site about 4 day's ago, i have been reading, reading, reading, reading, (etc, etc)........this is ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT (i know i'm not the first one to say this).
So, I've started to order bits and getting ready to give it a go...
My use for the scanning is as an aid to Solid modelling, particularly reverse engineering. (NX6), the problem is that .stl files are not very workable and would only be useable as reference, this is still useful, but it would be better if i could produce ; step files, parasolid files, or iges files.
Can shape fusion or meshlab do this, or should i use something else such as rhino?
Please suggest any programs you can think of, and if it could join/simplify the mesh, for example if the part has flat surfaces etc.
Thanks.......
