bigger calibration panels

Postby ashvi » Tue Oct 05, 2010 7:08 pm

Hello,

DAVID has the A3 and A4 calibration patterns available in the USB stick. How do I get calibration patterns for bigger sizes - say A1.

Thanks,
Ashwini

Hi,
Have you seen this thread?

Walter

Edit: Another way: You can also convert the .pdf calibration prints to .jpg or .bmp and make a poster as big as you like with:
http://posterazor.sourceforge.net/

Google will advice you to a suitable converter.

but, why ?!
if you open pdf calibration marks in coreldraw or ilustrator they will open as curves. in photoshop when you opening pdf you can choice how big you want it.
and if you pick 5meters x 5meters. you will have 5 meters with perfectly sharp calibration points, in exact position.
because this file is a vector file.
i hope that somebody know what im talking about :D

Hello all Davidans ,

I´m a newbie and just startet to dig in the deepness of this forum, amazing what´s going on in here...
I´, studing Geodesy and Geoinformatics.
My question is about the colour of the calibration panels. Have they to be white? Or is just the contrast the essential issue?
I found nice compound panels here:
http://catalog.item24.com/product_info. ... l-4mm.html
They are aluminium so woud David recognice black Points on it?

Thanks for Info...

Hello Gerhard,
It's not necessary that the calibration panels are white. Important is the contrast between panels and dots. But aluminium isn't a good choice because it's reflecting like a mirror. Better is a matt bright surface, e.g. white or light grey or similar.

Hi,

no, the boards do not have to be white (but bright colored). But they have to be mate. This aluminum boards should work for calibration, but will make trouble doing a scan (for they might show reflection effects).

There is a similar white colored material named Dibond (I reduce its glaze spraying it with only a few mate finish) - I use this to make small corners. Larger ones will need an additional frame for it is only 4mm

Gunter

Edit: Sorry, Walter was faster

And now since DAVID V3.1 the calibration patterns are also coming as *.png. :)
So it's no longer necessary to convert the pdf format.

Both, Posterazor and RonyaSoft Poster Printer aren't able to import pdf files.
