-Why are you upset Tibor?
-Bre Pettis should be worried.
-It has nothing to do with DAVID.
-A hobby level scanner with a very low resolution.
-Comparing 123dcatch, digitizer, sense 3d with DAVID would be meaningless.

I am totally agree with Lunat1c.
i did spend sometime last night on this website.
the most important thing is, the sense is not able to scan objects smaller than 20cm.
which means even for the big objects it can not go for the small details.
at the first i got upset and happy at the same time.(upset for those time i spent on David, and happy to find the cheap scanner).
but i was wrong

From their site:
What is the resolution of scans from Sense?
The Sense scanner creates about 20,000 to 400,000 triangles for each new 3D scan.
http://cubify.com/info/faq/faq_sense.aspx

From David scanner site:
•Mesh density: Up to 1,200,000 vertices per scan

This seems to be just another Primesense (as Kinect1, Xtion, Carmine) based device covered by some neat housing.

This systems are far of being a SL or Laserscanner but an easy way to grab something bigger. For some applications this might be enough (and it can be optimized up to a certain degree)

@ DAVID's mesh density: This depends on the used cam. Using still image cams and the image grabber you can get a much higher amount of points (e.g. over 4 Millions at a image resolution of 2592x1728...). If this makes sense depends on your needs...

I guess the mix of David and another 3d scanner, would be good idea.
specially with portrait(e.g. scanning hairs separately and then join it with David's). but i dont know if it is possible to join these two separate scans or not!

Sure, that´s possible and I already did it quite some times. Maybe you loose a texture (for this isn't a real obj texture but vertex color - if so you can transfer it in Meshlab to a image texture).
And many, not all, such apps produce a mesh that owns some double sided regions which you have to clean carefully before fusing them to other meshes.
EDIT:
Those "motion sensor scanners" - results are also a good skeleton wher you can apply DAVID meshes with only a little overlap.

I only wish I could afford GeoMagic products/software ($14,900 to $24,900).
