DIY laser sweeping mechanism

DIY laser sweeping mechanism

Postby f1oat » Sun Sep 29, 2013 8:01 pm

I am building a DIY laser sweeping mechanism based on a stepper motor with a planetary gearbox.
This original design has been done with a 3D CADCAM software and machined with a small CNC milling machine.
It needs few more hours of work before running the first scan !

Hi Frederic.
Looks very good. I have my own homebuildt CNC milling maschine. I just just finnished a Reprappro Mendel 3D printer and now I go for a 3D scanner with David software. I am also making the English - Danish translation of CamBam for its hompage andf program.
Are You going to release the g-code/DXF files and the wirering of Your homemade board for alser and light? I look forward to follow Your project.

Hello Torben,

Yes, I plan to publish the building instructions. I will try to do that soon.
I have finished the project few weeks ago and results are interesting.
I need some more time to master all David parameters and physical setup.
My next hardware project is a 3D printer !

Regards.
Frederic.

Hello Frederic

Good job! I will try to make parts on my 3D printer. I shall send You pictures of the result. Do You have a link to the planet gear?

I have used the following planetary gear box: http://www.robotshop.com/en/geared-bipo ... oz-in.html
But I have changed the motor to achieve low current on the motorshield (no need for high torque).

Hi again.

Long time no see. But now I have made files for 3D-printing. I will try to print them today and of course upload pictures when finnished. And Frederic, do have have any pictures, plan or STL-files of the "Laserholder to Stepmotor piece" ? Then I can make it printable.

Happy Sunday
