does anyone remember the alligator clips office utility device that went on a persons desk and could hold many small parts and paper or other office stuff. If you know where to find one that would be very helpful

thanks Bongobat! That is exactly what I was looking for. Your other post reminded me that I forgot to look in the machine shop/metal stamping building in my back yard. My father had it built years ago. I found the gage holder in the picture. The bottom is a plastic bottle painted glossy black. David can't see the bottle. I suppose the holder could be a "helper" object? The photo does not show an actual scanner set up. I just took a quick picture for display purposes. What's nice is that the holder can be fine adjusted by a threaded adjuster wheel in the back.

I just went to and did a search for "HELPING HANDS" and they have a good selection and a lot are under $5.00 USD.

This forum is great. On an AutoCad forum I was told to stop asking so many questions the to learn through books and tutorials.

Thanks again
