Does better Hardware = better scan results

Does better Hardware = better scan results

Postby tigus » Thu Aug 19, 2010 9:50 pm

Hi everyone

I was wondering if a higher megapixel camera (10MP) and a more powerful line laser (red or green) would produce better scanning results than the ones included in the DAVID starter kit (2MP webcam and 5mw line laser)? Has anyone experimented with this?

Any help would be appreciated

The camera resolution its not the only one. a good lense is important too.
you can do very good scans with a webcam. a good CCD Camera will
increase the quality.
10 Mp will produce big sized files so you need a very fast Pc with much RAM.
to choice the best camera is the question what you like to scan ....

More powerfull laser will not increase the quality asself but you can
scan better in different light conditions. Important for the laser
is a good focusbale line generator lense.

If you plan to scan by hand the starterkit is good. If you plan
to scan with a motordriven laser best choice is a CCD Camera
with trigger port.
