Default User Interface language

Default User Interface language

Postby TonyBalony » Tue Oct 16, 2012 7:19 pm

Hi, today I updated my usb David 3.x to the recommended new version I received from David newsletter.

I haven't used David in a number of months and decided to check out any new features or whatever but noticed that most of the UI is in German.

Is there anyway to change that to English?

Thank you

Yes you can change to English:

At top right you will find 'Einstellungen' (=settings). Then click on 'Sprache' (=language). After this change DAVID must be restarted.

When started for the first time, DAVID uses the system language settings. Should be English or French in your country... When the language is not available, DAVID will use English. I wonder why that did not work in your case.

Anyone else have that problem?

I ran into the same problem where it started in German. Easy enough to fix but threw me for a loop initially.

Thanks for your reports.
Indeed there was a bug in the 3.5.1 setup installer which made DAVID start in German. We have fixed that.

Details: The language setting is stored in DAVID in /Settings/Language.xml. If that file does not exist, DAVID uses the system language (at this time, only German or English), and English by default.
The bug was that the setup installer created a Language.xml file with the setting "German" IN ANY CASE.

Thanks

How to switch to English:

Delete the file "Language.xml" in the "Settings" subfolder of your DAVID3 installation
- OR -
Click here (as Walter described above), then restart DAVID:

Hi Austin,
We are working with our foreign resellers to get more languages. Chinese will be among them in one of the next versions!
(But no, you cannot make it yourself)
