Meshlab Poisson Reconstruction

Meshlab Poisson Reconstruction

Postby erniej » Sat Mar 29, 2008 7:28 pm

If Meshlab's Poisson Reconstruction's Octree Depth could be set higher than 12 without crashing that filter would be able to fuse as well as David. I am getting some fairly good fuses with the Poisson Reconstruction filter but the program crashes if the Octree Depth is set at anything above 12.

The first fusion is from Meshlab the second from David. I did the registrations in Meshlab point-to-point without pressing the "Process" butten because the program kept craching.. But now that I can see them side-by-side the Meshlab fusion looks a little better. I hope that statement does not offend anyone..

The error message is below.

Hi Erniej

At my system I ´m not able to calculate an octree depth higher than 11 using Meshlab. Maybe that depends also on the amount of meshes and their resolution....

Did you notice the different file sizes?

For my dancer:
With the same 16 meshes I got 14,2 MB using Shapefusion at 600 res, 51,1 MB using Meshlab 11 octree depth. The result see (these meshes were reduced to the same filesize using Meshlab):

You guys might be interested in these links:

You can convert your scans into .npts file format using 3d object converter: You must use Poisson Surface Reconstructor ASCII. You can convert from the dropdown list in a batch conversion.
