Mesh Trimming Like SHAPEFUSION

Mesh Trimming Like SHAPEFUSION

Postby shoesam » Tue Nov 08, 2011 7:55 pm

Hello Davidians!

I have found that Meshlab does Poisson fusing of 2 meshes, but I have not found a program that has the ability to trim meshes as easily as it is done in shapefusion.

does anyone know of a mesh editor software with this simple approach to removing unwanted parts of a mesh?

thank you,

Sam

Hi,

there´s a hidden selection feature within ML in its paint tool palette (paint brush icon in the main toolbar):

activating the paintbrush with the red tip, you can paint your selection on the mesh (be sure to have set ML to display selections: Icon right of the bulb in the main toolbar)

Free alternative with ability to handle higher polycounts:

http://www.meshmixer.com/index.html (now under the flag of Autodesk) - needs a bit to understand its workflow, but with very interesting features....

PS: Gonna answer your PM. Just a bit busy today...
