It is not about quality, your model will be lighter for the computer to work with.
If you have an complex object and you need to make 120 scans and align them,
that is a lot of 3D points and data. You need about 30% of all that for your object and 70% is overlapping.
Reducing the number of 3D points you dont need could make this ratio 50-50 or even better.
It is like that you are working with 70 scans instead of 120. :D

In addition :

Having a good calibration panel , a good calibration , coating , selecting a proper fps rate for camera , programing additional resources .... :roll: ....
, Having a good strategy for alignment and changing some parameters in fusion ; all are to have a high quality scanning result ;

Isn't it ? :wink:

Unfortunately ,
We have not any information about the algorithm that it uses by DLS to align scans correctly :(

Only we know this is Incredibly Low-Cost 3D Scanner for Everyone...

Maybe it is not so important to discuss about it here in this forum ;
But :
To have a precise scanning result we have to have enough information about the words " TANGENCY " and " CURVATURE "
Then we can decide that when it needs to use " removing extra overlaps "

BTW i have to write my own utility to do this . :)

Good bye

Thank you Gunter,

Those were useful :D

For DLS it is good to use markers as a main option in alignment .
And for me seems as i wrote it before ; I have to write my own utility to align scans according to my own strategy.

Hi Narmella
Yes, I use my perfectly spherical joint strategy.

And the last one in this topic :

If you have geomagic studio you can remove extra geometries easily .

Which specific module do you use in the studio?
I found only:
3D Design Software
- Geomagic Design (CAD)
- Geomagic Sculpt
- Geomagic Freeform
- Geomagic Freeform Plus
- CimatronE
Сanon 5d III + 50 mm Makro
