Hi

Tijs wrote:... i have got an upright of 500000faces and the scanto3d fuction is up to 3000?

Are you sure ?

Here is my last scan.
As you can see in the picture , its faces are more than 5,000,000

Importing into solidworks

Using scanto3d without any problem.

Anyway seems for you it would be good to decrease number of faces.
Only take a look here , You well get more information about it.

Good luck

I have made differnent fusions, the biggest is about 5.000.000 but that takes a few hours..mosty i do it overnight, start the fusionproces, drink a cup of coffee, leave the office, have a good evening at home and finaly when i come through the door my fusion is ready

Thanks for the other topic, it realy helpfull, i have something to do this weekend!

Had some success with DesignSpark Mechanical and reverse engineering its free http://www.rs-online.com/designspark/el ... mechanical
bit more work than Geomagic Design X but good results for free ;-)

Reverse engineering and scanning tips

Fill holes

For some reason we have holes in scan results.
It's important to fill those holes with surfaces.
Holes are surrounded by surfaces. It's important to choose a proper algorithm to fill them by using curvature , tangency or contact algorithm.

Here is an example by using " geomagic studio "
