What way of scanning choose?

Postby Mcdos » Sat Jul 12, 2014 4:59 pm

Hello, pals.
In the moment, I have this staff:
1) Program David-Laserscanner v3.10.3
2) Horizontal laser beam(red)
3) laser beam 1000 mW with cylinder (green)
4) Canon EOS 100D, Canon EOS 450D.
5) Programs ExtraVebCam, SparkyCam for connecting 4.
6) Webcam Philips spz5000
7) Projector http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-UC28-PRO-HDMI-Portable-Mini-LED-Projector-Home-Cinema-Theater-AV-VGA-USB-SD-/251338495344?ssPageName=ADME:L:OU:US:1120
8) Projector Mitsubishi xd500U http://www.projectorcentral.com/Mitsubishi-XD500U.htm
9) Program REAL3D SCANNER

What I needed to do for getting better scan something like that https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/54769729/212.JPG with a detail’s 28mm miniature.
What way of scanning I must choose? David-Laserscanner v3.10.3, Real3d, laser scanning, projector scanning, imitation of laser by projector, or stereoscanning by http://www.3dunderworld.org/software/ with 2 canon cameras.
Shit, I do this about half a year, and this f*ck me out.
PS: Sorry for my bad English, I am from Russia. After all, Russian forum of David Laserscanner is dead.

Hi

As i got it the part is an untrimmed injection part.

It's so difficult to scan such parts for first time scan.

It would be good to trim parts from main untrimmed one.

To get more precision and more details from such part's dimensions ; you have to get closer look by cam and a closer projection by projector ( it's faster than other way/ways)

In this forum you can find some great results and their explanations.

Note : don't use extrawebcam stretched cam view ' You will lose precision.

To me speed isn't especially important.

Ok

At first you have to have a precise calibration panel (60 mm panel size looks good to try)

On a 64bit os try to calibration and scanning calibration panel by using 32 bit version of david and your :

-Camera : Canon EOS 100D or Canon EOS 450D. "david uses cameras main live view resolution "
-Projector : Mitsubishi xd500U " use its native resulotion "

It's important to have at least 20% scans over lap to have a precise alignment.

I'm waiting for your good results

Be successful

One more important trick :

Don't use cameras av or p or ... instead of M " manual mode"

Manual mode is good to have scans without waves .

Hi

You don't need to use sparkocam or other applications to connect to the camera , david can access directly to an eos camera .

At first close all other applications like SPARCKOCAM OR EXTRAWEBCAM OR CANON EOS UTILITY OR ... which they want to access to your camera.
If you are using a 32 bit operating system like win7 32bit or win8 32 bit you have not any problem to use eos cameras but on a 64 bit os
run DAVID3.exe (32bit) instead of DAVID3_x64.exe .(those are in david installation folder)

Now change your setup type to "Structured Light Setup " as MagWeb wrote.

And then you will see your camera listed into camera listbox.

Hi
I advise you to check out the forum with similar themes. Others may have undergone these steps. Soon you will get good results. I also went to the most difficult to calibrate the projector.

Sorry, but scale 60mm is not too big?
This results by scale 210mm. Did you thinking the waves will be smaller and details will be higher if scale will be smaller?

congratulation !

You did it .

Your camera has a limited live view resolution.

Assume that each pixel gives david a vertex position .
Now decide that which size is good to zoom and get your part details.

By a limited resolution large panel sizes reduce details.
I mean you have to zoom to your part and scan 60mm x 60mm size of your part . then you can align them by using shape fusion.
