high precision 3d scanner

i'm looking for a high precision 3d scanner. I read on the david hompage, the max. resolution is up to 0,05% of scan size (up to 0,05 mm).
Is it possible to increase the resolutio and the precision whit optimal Hardware? In this case i need to scann small objects (max. 100x100x100mm) whit
a precision of 0,002-0,005mm to measure these in a CAD software.
With the 3d scanner from GOM it should be possible but for a very high price. I think they use similar technology like david.

I saw this thread. But it doesn't answer my questions.
What makes the precision? The camera, the optic or the projector?
Will i get higher precision by using a 4K camera?

My view is that you should look something else than david for your needs.

To get good scans with david, you have to have good projector, good camera, good calibration panels.
To have good calibration, you have to have the right distance between the projector and the camera and you have to have the calibration panels exatly at 90degree angle. That is easier said than done. See the dropbox links, you need to have the right size calibration panels in order to get the object in to the right scanning sweetspot. Otherwise you'll get more disortion into the scan and that makes the scan unusable.
The version 5 of the david software seems to be in a early access stage, features that are there but not quite there.
In all fairness, how does david compare to other manufacturers, I dont know.

... I don't think, you can scan/measure an object of 100mm size with a "real" precision of 5 microns, regardless the numerical resolution of your result - it's simply the optical and geometrical limits, what's defining the accuracy or repeatability.

Look here for a scan of an object with roughly 10mm diameter and reducing lenses attached to the beamer and to the camera, so the "scan volume" was something like 40x30x50mm:


The numerical resolution at the stamp was in the sub-micron range -- the "real accuracy" should be something like 30-50 microns ... and with 10x the size it will be 10x less accurate/precise too ...
