Finding / making the right setup equipement

Which camera works? Where can you buy an adequate laser? And more...

Finding / making the right setup equipement

Postby Curiousjeff » Fri May 22, 2015 10:14 am

I have been working off two tripods but I want to move to a more flexible / portable and compact solution to hold the camera and projector on one stand

Before I go ahead and build something, I searched the forum but could not really find the "perfect stand".

I placed an horizontal setup today with the aim of having a near 0 degre vertical angle on a 39 mm calibration panel and a Canon 60 mm macro lens. As you can see from the photo, I needed to adjust the projector angle a lot to get near 0 in the calibration process.

I had made the assumption that 0 vertical was when both camera and projector were leveled but obviously I was wrong.

Anyway, the ideal stand would offer all of this:

Switching between horizontal & vertical setup.
Very rigid to avoid vibration when using Lets Scan / Image grabber
Adjustment of the angle of the projector in both horizontal and vertical setup (as per above)
Adjustment of the distance between the projector and camera (of course :) )
Adjustement of the height of the camera or projector in relation to one another in horizontal mode
Portable
In the future, scanning with two cameras in vertical or horizontal

If some one could direct me to a previous post or show photos of his setup, that would be very useful.

Thanks.
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I am using 3 canon eos 600d cameras at the same time.
And this is an image of my scanner.

Thanks Narmella.

Do you have pre-configured positions for each of your calibration panels ?

For me ; It is not necessary to have pre-configured positions .
How ever it is possible.
According to the geometry of each object , i use different calibration panels with different depth of field , distances , one - two or three cameras and this is why i say DLS is so flexible.
