Advanced Turntable

Which camera works? Where can you buy an adequate laser? And more...

How did you cut the recessed bit for the conical bearing in that large PVC rod? Did you use a lathe or something?

Also, what is the outer diameter of that conical bearing? It looks pretty small. Sorry for all the questions and thanks again!

Yes, I used a lathe, also to make the flange.
The outer diameter of the conical bearing is 35 mm. The inner diameter is 15 mm.

Thanks again! You have been very generous with your knowledge and experience.

I don't have access to a lot of great tools but I'll see what I can do.

I am new to David SLS and i was searching for automated turntable solution based on arduino (and A4988).
I fould lot of very good and useful codes for this. Based on my investigation this thread here should be the newest development for automatic turntable solution based on arduino.

Or is there any other newer development in this forum?
Just want to be sure to start building on the latest version. ;-)

BTW ... is there also turntable solution for SLS availalbe which is also controlling the pitch axis beside the rotation?
On the already availalbe turntable interface ... is it possible to pass pitch and rotation (degree) to DAVID?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I have modified the arduino sketch to be used with "CNC Shield V3".
This arduino based turntable is designed to be configured (e.g. angle, number of scans) on the arduino side.

Is it possible to use the built in "Turntable Control" in the DAVID 4 Pro software to control arduino based turntable???
I would like to use this SW feature if possible.

No, unfortunately not. It's only usable with the DAVID turntable. There is no information about their code available.

I have added this to the "feature wish list" in this forum.

Everybody who would also like this feature should reply there with "+1".

BTW ... @ WalterMo: Really great arduino code. Thanks for sharing !!!!!

1st of all ... many thanks to WalterMo for sharing the really great arduino code.

I have further modified the code to add the following features:
* 20x4 LCD to show additional information like David connection status and SW mode (calibration, scanning, texture mode).
* Button for MODE selection: 200x1,8°, 40x9°, 20x18°, 10x36°, 8x45°, 5x72°, 4x90°
* Added Bluetooth HC-05 module for wireless connection ... very useful to save USB ports and get more mobility (e.g. with 9V battery). ;-)
* Adapted the code for usage with "CNC Shield V3" to reduce required soldering.

Further ideas:
* Support for photogrammetry ... trigger DSLR after small rotation (nothing for David SW, but quite useful)
* Add 2nd axis for automatic up/down tilt to achieve almost 360x180° scan.

Nice.
I've been thinking of v2.0 of my turntable control and blue tooth might be a useful addition. hmmm

P.S. Can you also play "Space Invaders" on yours? :D

I have a question about David 4.
Version 3 had the possibility to output a string and wait for a string between scans, allowing to create a custom turntable.
Now the version 4 specs say that it only works with the David turntable. Is it specific of the additional turntable option, but the string approach is still feasible, or has this option been removed?
Thanks in advance,
Massimo

DAVID 4 will work in the same manner with a self-built turntable like DAVID 3. Simply ignore in the Setup menu the little box called 'Enable Turntable'. The necessary symbols for Commands and Messages in the Advanced Settings are already set with the right letters.

During my tests of DAVID 4 with my turntable I noticed, that when I set a hook at 'Auto.Add to List' in the Scanning menu, scanning, turning and storage are messily mixed. Maybe it's normal and therefore not allowed.
