There is good freeware to do such cleaning stuff (as MeshMixer or Meshlab) but I agree, it would streamline the workflow to have Selection improoved in DAVID.
To complete selection wishes:
- optional possibility to restrict Selection to visible parts of the mesh only. Means an option where Selection does not cut through all the stuff but only selects the first surface towards the viewer plane so it does not select backfaces.
- optional Restriction of Selection to one ore more meshes marked in the file list (it also would be nice to have marked meshes' color somehow highlighted in the scene). This would make some hiding/showing operations to be not needed any more.
- Possibility to transfer a selection from one mesh to another nearby surface (to invert it on the second mesh) (EDIT: Same could be done with a restriction af the eraser to a marked mesh and still keeping the selection on nont marked meshes., /EndEDIT)
- Expand and shrink a selection
This is not for the cleaning but for the file list:
- would be nice to have the used meshcolor as a little square in the filelist. Dealing with many overlapping meshes it is hard to mark the right mesh in the scene now...
