It seems that the process for planeless scanning may be different for DAVID4. There is no longer a 3D laser scanning tab, or most of the advanced settings that were discussed in earlier threads. I understand that most people have moved on to SLS with projectors but that will not work for my application. I am doing more like cnc Dave was doing, very large object scans. my calibration targets are 10 feet tall and 8 feet across for each side. I then scan large objects in one sweep. no fusing. I am going for accuracy of one single line in the scan really. fusing could introduce a small shift. So what is the best and proper way to do PLANELESS scanning in DAVID4? I have a valid enterprise sdk license for 4 and don't wanna have to use DAVID3. Thanks!
Some days ago I also noticed that DAVID4 came out without the feature of planeless laser scanning. I talked with Sven about this and he said that it was simply forgotten. I think the next DAVID4 update will have Planeless Scanning back again.
I sure hope so! I need it bad. I have to figure out now how to make a rig for my laser and camera that can support this size calibration panel. then on to planeless hopefully! Please put the features back Sven!
