Scanning a moving narrow object

Postby meefa » Thu Sep 18, 2014 1:40 pm

Hello everyone.

I'm trying to scan long narrow object - egde of ice skate blade in high resolution.
Lenght of the blade is 300 mm. Width is about 2-3 mm. I can move blade with constant speed.
Is it possible to perform scan with DAVID software? Laser and camera are fixed while scanning.

If it's moving then no, doing a laser scan it is very slow, even structured light scanning would be an issue.
If it's a shiny object then you need to cover it with something otherwise it will reflect the laser away. There's a special spray almost like gray paint that can be bought to cover shiny or transparent objects. Or things like baby powder.
