Dental Cast Scan

Postby eliscio » Mon Dec 06, 2010 2:56 pm

Hello All,

Here is a sample that I did the other night. I had to use about 12 scans to get everything referenced properly in shapefusion, but I did not use all scans for the final version (some were only to get the orientation).

This was done with manual hand scanning and a SPC9000 webcam. The new calibration panels are excellent and give you a lot of flexibility.

I saw some other people here scanned dental casts to and it seems they had a bit better results, perhaps with a bit more detail. This might be to having an automated setup or at least a mechanized motor to drive the laser slowly which seems to be the key for clean scans.

Any comments welcome.

Hi eliscio,

Cool scans! I think that you have pushed the webcam at its limits.
For my point of view is great: enough detailed and very precise. And so smooth.

Keep up your great work!

Regards,
Mattia
