UV LED and DLP

Hi
http://www.luminus.com/products/Luminus_CBT39UV_Datasheet.pdf
Do you think it is suitable for illumination?

Hi Tibor,
I know from Viktor (VDX) that he intends to build a 3D printer using UV LEDs as a light source. E.g. he wrote on August 14th on this forum:
„I have some really strong (watercooled) 405nm-LED's for inserting them as light-source in modified DLP-beamers and a pulsing UV-laser with 337nm and ultrashort (200ps) pulses with up to 400kW power for curing the resin in some nanoseconds, but actually busy with some other tasks ... the 'micro'-UV-printing is planned for end of this year“.

In my opinion the problem will be that the sensitive micro mirrors of the DLP chip...

...cannot withstand high intensity UV light.

But we will see what Viktor will work out.

Hi Tibor, Walter,

... my UV-printing development is on hold/delayed, as I'm actually more focussed on developing lasers and applications for laser-engraving/cutting (style of LOM), -sintering/-melting (SLS and DLM) and some novel fabbing methodes for high accuracies with all sorts of materials (not only UV-resins).

I think, UV-DLP-printing could be interesting again in summer, when the metal printing runs without problems ...

Hi Walter

LCOS solution, the reflected light is used? I do not exist.
Tibor

Hi

When I use this it would be built to a home projector???

... yes, this is similar to the DMD-chips in the DLP-beamers.

If you want to use an UV-laserdiode, then the common showlaser-scanners could be interesting for you:
http://www.mylaserpage.de/shop/pi2/index.html

I'm developing a system for SLS/DMD with high-power fiberlasers around such XY-scanners, but it's usefull for UV-curing with a 300mW-BluRay-diode too ...

On the B9C forum I found an interesting post of Etienne Renault regarding the replacement of the projector's lamp and substitution by an UV LED (Jan 11th):
