We think a simple "auto combine" is too "dangerous" for the average user or beginners who don't understand the consequences. We'll think of something for the future...

kknapp wrote:This version has crashed 4 times in last three days while in shape fusion aligning and combining scans.

Can you reproduce the problem? Which version are you running, 32 or 64 bit?
Anyone else experienced such crashes?

Thanks

These mismatches are very small. I can only assume they come from imprecise hardware:
- imprecise calibration panels
- lens distortions that our software cannot compensate
- changes of the scanner after calibration (maybe temperature) --> it can help to let the projector run warm before calibrating
- ...?

I'm sorry I don't have a better answer.

Sven, camera calibration does not compensate lens distortions??

Yes it does! Sorry, my post was unclear. I meant:
- irregular lens distortions that are beyond what our software can compensate

DAVID compensates lens distortion by fitting a mathematical lens model. You can find the parameters in /Settings/CameraSetup.xml and ProjectorSetup.xml. The camera model includes radial lens distortions, the projector model also includes higher degree radial and tangential lens distortion parameters.

Real lenses (especially cheap lenses) can have "irregular" distortions that can not be represented by such model parameters.

Hi Sven
Camera inaccuracies possible. I can not even check the other camera. How to quantify the results of the calibration??

Sven,

Sorry to hear that a combine feature will not be added anytime soon.

Would the SDK software allow me to add this feature?

Im using the 64 bit version. The crash mode occurs in shape fusion when selecting scans to align and when selecting or deselecting scans to combine.

The crashes are intermittent and I cannot exactly reproduce them.

Thank you again.

one-click Scan+Align is awesome. but there is one problem in free align. if the item we scan is smooth and simple, DAVID can not Align correctly in free mode, we can use turntable and Align in Y mode with turning degree. is it possible DAVID add one option which we can choose Align in degree as autoAlign? the other one is if DAVID can add one mode of aligning Y with degree. it means when we use turntable, we can program the Adurino not only turn in 360 in X direction but also turn some degree in Y direction. Align can fit the movement of turntable.

DAVID 3.9.0.3959M 64 Bit - Crash

Postby hal » Sat Sep 28, 2013 9:31 am

Hello Sven,
I was tryong ur latest version and seems working finr with 32 Bit .exe file.
The 64 Bit one gave me an issue, when lounched.
In the prompt DOS window appear an error text in italian lenguage, that I guess demostrate that the issue cames from my OS (Win7 64 Bit). I report here a quick translation of it:

Exception not managed: System.MissingMethodException: Impossible to find the method "Void System.Input.CommandBinding..ctor(System.Windows.Input.ICommand, System.Window.Input.ExwcutedRoutedEventHandler)"
in ?.?.?(String[] ?)
in ?(String[] ?)
in ?(String[] ?)

That's it. :?
Thanks in advance for any kind suggestions,
Best regards,
Mattia

Hi reachyours
Experience the day. Tilting the Y axis given me success in their work. Y decided not fail automatic alignment.

I have found an odd issue with the current beta.

Image

The scans:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/25588164/TerraCotta_A.rar

When you look at the separate scans, there is no dark texture anywhere around the shoes like can be seen on the picture - I have removed that part of the mesh in one of the scans.
However, when I fuse the mesh, it appears that DAVID still takes parts of the texture of that particular scan when it should not do that.

Any way to fix this?
Any way to tell DAVID to ignore the outer parts of the texture (Which are typically dark) ?

Also, is there any way to tell DAVID to use/prefer a grouped collection of scans (so it exists) for auto aligning instead of the last scan?

Canon EOS 1100D

I quickly tested 3.9.0 beta 2 64 bit on this Darth Vader head. Fusion at 250 no refinement and with close hole checked then did the same on David 2.6.3. The hole is closed in 2.6.3 but not here and I think the same problem happens in 3.8.1. Also I usually do a quick fuse at 300 but that is unselectable in this beta, is that by design? Are these bugs or am I just behind a bit?

Hi Sven
Older versions work was compared.
The older blue, green a3.9.0beta2. It takes a lot of difference. Same OBJ. The error is in the software.

Hi Mattia,
Have you installed .NET Framework 4.5 and all Windows updates from Microsoft?
Does the problem not occur with beta1 or older versions like 3.8?
