EDIT 2013-03-13 by Simon:
The final release of DAVID 7.3.0 (including 64-bit) is now online and the beta version is obsolete!

EDIT 2013-01-18: Added XP version
EDIT 2013-01-18: Fixed XP version, new link
EDIT 2013-02-15: New version 3.7.0 beta2

Hello forum!

We present DAVID 3.7.0 beta!

Download
- http://www.david-laserscanner.com/freeware/DAVID_3.7.0.3477_beta.zip (for Windows Vista, 7, 8 )
- http://www.david-laserscanner.com/freeware/DAVID_3.7.0.3489_beta_XP.zip (for Windows XP)
and extract all files to any folder you like. If you have a license, you can copy your "DAVID3_license.lic" file into the beta folder, then it will be licensed as well.

The new DAVID (not XP version) requires the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 or higher. If it is not installed on your system yet, you can download it from Microsoft.
4.5: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... x?id=30653

A long time has passed since the last update. Some changes were extensive... The beta runs stable and works very well on our systems, but we cannot test many different hardware configurations. So we need your help to test hardware compatibility!

Why test the beta?
- New version of our 3D engine --> please test if it works smoothly on your graphics card!
- New compiler / NET Framework (not XP version) --> please test if it works on your Windows system!
- Faster GUI, easier calibration, and some more improvements --> enjoy the new version!

What else is new?
Please see the changelog below.

3.5... 3.7.... where is 3.6?
Version 3.6 was only a USB version, therefore there was no download. Starting with 3.7, USB and download will be the same software again.

SL Calibration
Already in 3.6 we have made calibration easier. One click in the Calibration menu will calibrate camera, projector, and texture white balance. So the menu structure is a little different. We will update the manual shortly.

Thanks! I have attached the missing file. Please extract it from the zip into your DAVID3 beta folder.
It should be the last one missing.
I have also added it to the beta.zip

Thanks Alyx.
That's strange. DAVID should look like this:
DAVID_3.7.0_beta.png

What version of Windows and .NET Framework do you have?
Please make sure you have extracted ALL files from the ...beta.zip, including subfolders.

Any error messages?

Have just tested the new version. But before I had to install .NET 4.5 on my Win7 64bit notebook.

I have compared 3.7.0 Beta with 3.5.1 by fusing the same scans and I was surprised:

The new version was nearly 4 times faster! :!:

But I cannot install it on my Win XP 32bit pc. Error message: It's no permissible 32 bit application. Or is the new DAVID now a 64 bit software?

Thanks so far. Yes it doesn't run on XP, didn't expect that. :( Working on it. New version coming soon.
Otherwise, anyone else did some tests, everything fine?

For XP users:
Please use THIS version: (link)

Basically it has the new functions and simplified SL calibration etc, but not the improvements in speed! It seems that's not possible for XP. :(

Sven

EDIT: XP users, please use the version 3.7.0.3489 I posted below.

That's not entirely true.

1) The speed improvements in the 3D engine are there :-)
2) We can make the XP version faster too... even if not as fast as the other version. Please be patient.
