Edges curl up

Postby Farquarl » Thu Jun 23, 2016 4:53 pm

Hello,
i have an anoying problem with my scans. The overall detail and geometrical accuracy is satisfying for me but the edges of my scans curl up.
I use a dell 3400mp dlp 1080x768 beamer and a c270 with a 28mm dslr lense.

Hey Zainab,
yes its a modified logitech c270, i bought a 28mm pentax k mount lense on ebay and 3d printed an adapter. But i would recommend a lense with only 24mm because of the huge crop factor. I can provide you with the .stl or .obj files if you have a 3d printer yourself. The projector is really not that special at all, also bought it on ebay for 50€.
Oh im also using a stepper motor and an arduino to rotate and atomate the scanning process.
For the more experienced user or staff:
Any idea?

The object ist quite small compared to the illuminated area. I guess overall quality improves when you put camera and projector closer to your object. The curling might then be reduced too. Just some thought...
Projector: Acer K11 with Achromat f=400mm | Cameras: 2x Logitech 9000 Pro with custom C-Mount body | Lenses: 1x Computar M1214-MP, 1x Computar M5018-MP, 1x Schneider-Kreuznach Cinegon CNG 1.4/12

Thats is true, however i can not move the camera or beamer any close since the object fills the whole screen allready.
To put this in perspective, the sensor of a c270 is 4x2mm large, the lense i am using is for a sensor that measures 24 mm × 36 mm.
I think i need a different lense maybe some of these cctv varifocal lenses.

Im by no means an expert but i think the c920 webcam is used by many here in the forum and said to be one of the best none professional cams you can get.
I dont know if its worth modifying for you because i build my setup for one purpose only, which is to scan small objects. I dont know what you intent to scan and what detail you want to a achieve.
