Your scan on small objects are amazing, especially the Japanese doll and the machine gun! I've learnt a lot about my new DAVID scanner setup just by reading your posts and comparing my scans to yours. Helps me keep improving my scanning skills for sure.

Here are a few photos of the scans I did today, which I wasn't very happy with because it took more than 30 scans and 2 hours to repair...the scans looked like confetti as well with lots of holes from the uneven surface that made the shape fusion very difficult. Any suggestion what I can do to make the scans better?

Thanks!

Dear Idea Bean;

thanks for your flattering remarks, it is amazing to know that the antipodes have found my advice helpful!
Great your scans also because the object is small, to reduce the time that you describe you should do the following:

1) Always KEEP the camera RAISED to take advantage of the combination of the two angles (vertical angle of nearly zero mean losing that small percentage of accuracy that allows you to achieve perfection).
2) calibrate the scanner only after putting everything clearly focused.
3) scan the object, ensuring that the area concerned patterns of light are clearly focused.
4) If a scan is a "confetti" I advise you to repeat it by changing the aperture until you see the light from the projector screen with good contrast.

If you are interested to know something more are at your disposal.

A cordial greeting from Italy to you and to all New Zealanders friends

Paolo

Thanks Paolo for your suggestions. I shall try to mount the camera above the projector and see how it goes.

Paolo, very good job!

I like to see a closed circle: Original, scan and then the copy.

Hi Paolo,

Good to hear from you.

Yasemite Sam has never been this tough!

Can it be painted too?

Best regards,

Hello Maycrown;

thank you very much for your appreciation, it is always a pleasure to hear from you.

While not in use to paint the marble but I confess I thought to do it for a few small details, such as eyes or something else, that still comes out something new, pleasant and innovative?

Best regards, ciao

Paolo
