SL Pattern Maker

Postby Sven » Tue Aug 17, 2010 12:27 pm

Hello,

I have made a small program that can create the 12 Structured Light patterns in any resolution. It creates the same patterns as the "Pattern Projection Form" in DAVID, but it saves them to image files.

Download: http://www.david-laserscanner.com/freew ... nMaker.zip
(If it does not work, put it into your DAVID application folder and launch it there.)

Simply enter the width and height in pixel, then click Save. The program will add "_01" to "_12" to the file name you enter. It can save bmp or png.
The number of patterns is always 12, because at this time DAVID does not work with any other number.

Hope this helps. :)

cool! thanks!

I'm using a wonderful free app called djv_view to flip the pattern in full screen, but it does not seem to be able to load the bmp format created by your app...

Hmmm strange. The BMP files are written by the .net framework, I can only assume that they meet the standards.
The "SL Pattern Maker" can also export to PNG. Can djv_view import the PNG files?

If the structured light pattern is constant...
Why to use a expensive projector.
Why not better use a home made projector with just a slide with the pattern.
I think you can save some hundred dollars this way.

because the advantage of using the patterns is that you can scan very fast compared to laser but the projector has to switch the pattern very fast. It's required to ba able to scan a person.

If you could use a 35mm there is no reason not to take photos one after each other. I get 8 frames a second on a 7d at 18 million pixels.. im assuming a 35mm film projector would give better results for cheap... dam Ive seen second hand projectors for 2 GBP in some car boot sales lol....

So a simple turn based projector could do it. 1st slide, photo, 2nd slide ,photo, 3rd slide, photo. If you have a remote for the camera and a button on the projector it could be done on static objects fine right?

How does one utilize the SL Pattern Maker generated patterns for SLS?

What are the advantages?

Of course live camera, and DAVID 4 is the right choice (flexibility, etc.), but I'm still working in DAVID Version 2.6.3, where SL pilot.

!!Once again I ask for help from those who have downloaded SL Pattern Maker!!

Hi Goose,

I have repaired the download link: http://www.david-laserscanner.com/freeware/SLPatternMaker.zip

This is useful only for DAVID2, where SL is experimental. That software is >4 years old and SL works 1000 times better with DAVID3 or 4.

If you want to export the pattern images in DAVID3/4, you should click on the projected pattern (on the projector) with your right mouse button, then click "Save Pattern Sequence Images".
