Shape Fusion alignment problems

Postby Hiet » Tue Dec 04, 2012 11:14 am

we have tried to scan a puppet head with the new David structured light scanner. Calibration and scanning from 3 differrent points worked well (at least the resulting scans didn´t look bad). When trying to align the 3 scans with shapefusion, however, things went bad. Alignment of the first 2 scans is really bad (see screenshot), alignment of the 3rd is even worse. We tried to keep to the manual and used all possible registration/alignment ways. Any ideas would be appreciated...

Kind regards, Thomas

Hi Thomas,

maybe you need more 'overlapping' points, so best scan with lower angular displacement and more single scans ... so the aligner has some more data to work with

For a 360°-scan I'm working with 6 or even more scans with automatic alignment ...
